Richard Hall

Richard Hall is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geotechnical Engineering. He has twenty-six years of experience in the mining and civil construction industry. Nine Years as a geotechnical engineer providing consulting services to the mining industry and civil construction industry.  Seventeen years in the procurement and supply of custom construction and manufacturing materials from Asia to America. Primary products are: architectural aluminum, aluminum composite panel, specialty glass, steel, stainless steel, and piping. His main specialty is consolidating multiple suppliers and trades to produce fully fabricated and assembled material ready for installation on buildings. Richard is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers British Columbia.  He has also been a Director of the Canada Korea Business Association since 2007.

Jae-Yeon Lim

IMMIGRATION LAWYER & PARTNER, McMILLAN LLP

Jae Yeon Lim (“Jae”) is a corporate immigration lawyer and partner at McMillan LLP in Vancouver. With over ten years of experience, she represents employers across diverse industries, as well as individuals and families seeking temporary and permanent relocation to Canada. She has been ranked for her immigration expertise by Lexpert, Chambers & Partners, and Best Lawyers.

In recognition of her expertise in Canadian immigration law, Jae was appointed to the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency’s Global Advisory Committee. She has taught immigration law in the University of British Columbia’s Extended Learning Immigration Law Program and has served as an elected member at large of the Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) National Immigration Section Executive, as well as a director of the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association (CILA).

Jae obtained her civil and common law degrees from the McGill Faculty of Law and graduated with high distinction from the University of Toronto’s French Language and Literature Specialist Program. She is fluent in French, English, and Korean.

Inyeob Kim

SENIOR RELATIONSHIP MANAGER,  EXPORT DEVELOPMENT CANADA

Inyeob Kim is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in international trade finance and commercial banking. As a Senior Relationship Manager with the Mid-Market Business Development team at Export Development Canada (EDC) in Vancouver, BC, Inyeob leverages her expertise to help Canadian exporters navigate complex trade finance needs and capitalize on global market opportunities. She is also an Asia Pacific Strategy national lead for EDC’s Mid market business.

Her core strengths include risk mitigation, structuring innovative trade solutions, and guiding clients toward diversified export strategies. Prior to joining EDC, Inyeob spent 14 years at RBC Royal Bank, where she progressed through various roles and most recently served as a Commercial Credit Advisor, specializing in credit analysis and risk management.

Inyeob holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and is currently pursuing the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation.

John Cha

John Cha is a Deputy Director at KOTRA (Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) in Vancouver. Representing the Korean government, he leads initiatives to strengthen Korea’s position as a key business and economic hub and facilitates Canadian companies in exploring trade and investment opportunities with Korea.

He oversees G2G procurement, innovative startups, defence, shipbuilding, and emerging technologies including the 4th industrial revolution sectors, while fostering strategic relationships with Canadian governments, corporations, and industry partners in energy, steel, heavy equipment, construction, and many other sectors, promoting cross-border collaborations and generating tangible business outcomes.

He holds a BA in Economics from Simon Fraser University and Business Administration Diploma from Douglas College.

Adeel Ahmad

Adeel Ahmad is the Managing Director, Asia at Invest Alberta, responsible for leading the Asia business development team that delivers investment into Alberta from Korea, Japan, India and China. Adeel manages relationships with investors, partners and stakeholders across the region. He has more than 10 years of experience in Asia business development, working in the public and private sector, including investment promotion for government organizations in Canada, the US, the UK and the UAE. Adeel previously lived in Korea for almost 20 years and speaks fluent Korean.

Soomin Shim

Soomin Shim is a tax professional in Deloitte’s Vancouver office specializing in transfer pricing. She advises multinational clients across industries including telecommunications, fashion retail, and software, helping them design, document, and defend transfer pricing policies that align with business operations, optimize tax outcomes, and meet evolving regulatory requirements. Known for her thoughtful approach and strong client focus, Soomin has built enduring, trust-based relationships with many of the organizations she advises – relationships that have grown over several years.
Soomin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts. Before focusing on transfer pricing, she worked in U.S. corporate and partnership tax compliance in Boston, Massachusetts. She is a U.S. Certified Public Accountant.
Beyond her client work, Soomin enjoys bringing people and ideas together. She has initiated, organized, and facilitated a number of firm-sponsored initiatives and community events, including International Women’s Day speaker programs and the Canada–Korea trade event supported by the Province of British Columbia and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver.

Joanna Dawson

Joanna Dawson is a business lawyer in the Vancouver office of McMillan LLP, with a practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial law, and private equity. She has extensive experience advising private businesses on acquisitions, business structuring and organization, and corporate governance.
Joanna regularly acts on behalf of private enterprises, institutional and private equity investors, and non profit organizations in a wide range of regional, national, and cross border transactions. Born in Korea and raised in Vancouver, Harry spent six years living and working in Korea before returning to Canada with his wife and son. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McGill University.
